Please join 3GNY, 3GNJ, and 3GPhilly on Wednesday, June 8th at 8pm EST via Zoom Webinar for a thought-provoking event about the pink triangle in honor of Pride Month. “The Pink Triangle & Gay Identity in the Shadow of the Holocaust” will be led by Professor Jake Newsome, PhD.
Dr. Newsome will explore how generations of LGBTQ+ activists and grassroots scholars fought against attempts to purposefully silence the stories of the Nazis’ LGBTQ+ victims. In doing so, they reclaimed the pink triangle, transforming it from a concentration camp badge into a marker of resistance, pride, and community, and redefining what it meant to be gay in a post-Holocaust world.
This event is co-sponsored by the Maltz Museum of Jewish Heritage.

This event is part of 3GNY’s Event Series - Jewishness, Activism & Belonging: The goal of this 2022-2023 event series is to highlight the diverse intersections of being Jewish and descendants of Holocaust Survivors in the modern post-WW2 era. We will amplify diverse stories - of communities of color, of the queer community, and more - using our platform for progress, conversation and inclusion.
