How can you comprehend a tragedy, with few to no survivors left to tell their stories? In the wake of mass tragedies like the Holocaust or 9/11, the objects that survive often take on added meaning, serving to memorialize those we’ve lost, as well as to commemorate the tragedy itself. In this special conversation moderated by Dina Bailey of Mountain Top Vision, join founding curator of the 9/11 Museum and Memorial Alexandra Drakakis and Holocaust educator and 3G Heather Lutz for a discussion on how we use objects of trauma to teach history, how we give larger context to these often intimately personal items, and the role of museums in allowing engagement with these objects.
