Please join other 3G activists for WEDU's FIFTH year and 11th Training Class! Our Fall Training will be held September 16, 23 and 30. WEDU (We Educate) is 3GNY’s education initiative created to empower grandchildren of survivors to bring our family stories and lessons of the Holocaust to school classrooms. Developed under the guidance of Facing History and Ourselves, WEDU prepares participants to learn and share their family stories.
More about WEDU:
Since our launch in Spring of 2010, WEDU has been successful with more than 50 classroom visits, and has reached over 1,000 students, visiting over 15 schools, including the Satellite Academy, The Beacon School, Bronx Lighthouse Charter School, Forest Hills High School, PS 363, Livingston High School, and more.
Overview: · Commitment will be 3 training sessions (3 hours each), weeknights, dinner provided, spread out over 1 ½ months. Once you are comfortable sharing your story (you’ll get plenty of practice and support in the trainings), we can help you schedule a school visit.
· There will be 2 training sessions (group size usually 10-12 people) at the Facing History and Ourselves offices. http://www.facinghistory.org/ Educators will help craft your story and provide a forum for practice.
· A third practice session, with extra support from WEDU alumni, held at the offices of Proskauer Rose. We connect you to a school. Typically, two speakers share a class.
· For additional details, please check out the WEDU page on this site. There is a questionnaire in the top-left corner that will help you start the process.
3GNY's Dana Arschin, a reporter for News 12 Brooklyn, reports on Holocaust survivors in Brooklyn, home to the largest number of survivors in New York. Many of them fear their stories are being lost.
