3GNY Hiking in Van Cortlandt Park

October 9th Hiking

Few New Yorkers realize that the 1,146 acre Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx also has some of the most challenging, beautiful, and famous hiking trails in the country. Described by the NY Times as a "mecca" that can make "the paved streets of the New York City Marathon look relatively tame," the Van Cortlandt trails are also free and easy to get to. Join 3GNY as we hike a hilly, 3.1 mile trail in Van Cortlandt Park together. It will be a great chance to get some exercise outdoors and perhaps reflect on our High Holiday experiences as well. Afterwards, we'll head up to nearby Riverdale for brunch at a Kosher cafe.

Date: Sunday October 9, 2016 9:30AM Place: Van Cortlandt Park Address: 6007 Broadway, New York, NY (in front of Burger King) Directions: Take the 1 train to the last stop (242nd street). When you get off, walk north along Broadway for five minutes until you see the Burger King (6007 Broadway) on the west side of the street. We will assemble there and then walk into the park together. For those who are driving, street parking in the area is probably the best bet. Bring: Comfortable walking or running shoes, bottle of water, and a snack.
